Proposed Turnpike Mainline/SR 91 and Waterlin Boulevard Interchange PD&E Study Project Description:

Osceola County is conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for a proposed interchange at Florida’s Turnpike (Mile Marker 234) and Waterlin Boulevard. This study will evaluate a phased approach to interchange implementation. The purpose of this PD&E is to evaluate and provide a new local access connection to accommodate existing and future transportation demand, enhance safety and connectivity between the Turnpike and the planned local roadway network, and improve travel time reliability. This project will also provide additional access to the Turnpike for emergency responders and evacuation operations for surrounding communities.

Phase 1 of the project consists of a northbound entrance ramp from Waterlin Boulevard to SR 91/Turnpike, a southbound exit ramp from SR 91/Turnpike to Waterlin Boulevard, and supporting roadway, drainage, traffic, control, lighting, intelligent transportation services (ITS), signing, utility, and other necessary infrastructure. Phase 2 is anticipated to include future south-facing ramps, consisting of southbound and northbound entrance ramps. The PD&E Study will involve a wide range of engineering assessments, environmental analysis, and public involvement to identify alternatives that meet the project needs.
