This project was complete as of November 18, 2025.
The design and construction of this Project were based on the results of the Project Development and Environment Study (PD&E) that was performed for the County. The study included presenting roadway alternatives at a Public Workshop and a Preferred Alternative at a Public Hearing.
The purpose of this project was to reconstruct Simpson Road from a two-lane to a divided four-lane roadway, ultimately connecting U.S. 192 to the Osceola Parkway.
The new roadway featured a grassed median and a 10-foot shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians on each side. The project also included a closed drainage system, signal and pedestrian upgrades, sidewalks, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components, guardrails, handrails, and gravity walls, new traffic signals on Simpson Road at the New Beginnings Road and Country Lane intersections, as well as upgraded signals at other intersections.
The typical section for reconstructing Simpson Road from a 2-lane to a divided 4-lane roadway included a 26-foot median and a 10-foot shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians on each side of the roadway.
The improvements for Simpson Road were divided into North and South sections during planning. Simpson South were constructed simultaneously along with improvements planned for the Fortune-Simpson intersection.
